Introduction

Adult Placement in West Wales is the provision of services to vulnerable adults from the homes of approved Adult Placement Carers (AP Carers). The primary aim of the West Wales Adult Placement Scheme and Carmarthenshire Adult Placement Service is to support people to live ‘ordinary’ and independent lives within the community. ‘Ordinary’ because Adult Placement isn’t particularly ‘extraordinary – The simplicity of Adult Placement is that by providing services from the homes of approved AP Carers it enables people to integrate into home, family and community life whilst being provided with appropriate levels of care and/or support.

Adult Placement in West Wales does not segregate vulnerable adults from the wider community nor does it in any way provide buildings led or institutional services/care. Adult placement in West Wales centres around the things that we all value – being respected and valued as individuals by others; contributing to and participating in a community; and being able to develop friendships and relationships with the people around us. Adult Placement provides a range of services (long term placements, short breaks (respite) and sessional/day services) that are needs led, person centred and which enable people to have choice to live the lives that they want. Approved AP Carers ensure that people placed with them are afforded the same rights and responsibilities as any citizen living in West Wales. It is made more extraordinary due to the dedication and support of all involved in making it work – Adult Placement is very much about being ‘in it together’, welcome to the AP Carers website which is very much part of this……..
