Being A Carer
Once the decision has been made by the Independent Panel to approve you as a Shared Lives Carer there are a number of responsibilities you will need to adhere to in order to maintain that status of approval. Just as an example, you will need to keep a diary record that will detail any events of significance that can be referred to throughout the year, you may also need to keep records for the administering of any medication. There may be many others dependent on the needs of the person you will be supporting but each of these will be recorded in and agreed in a Placement Agreement.
Essentially, you will be a pivotal part of a team of professionals that looks after the needs and expectations of anyone in your care. You will be working with and regularly meeting with social workers and care managers, professional healthcare workers, and our Shared Lives Officers to meet the agreed outcomes of each Service User’s Individual Care Plan.
